Camagüey, Cuba, April 16th.- The Maternal and Child Care Program (PAMI), in the municipality, is one of the main work objectives of the health sector by focusing health care on patients from the first days of life until adulthood.

Until April 2024, the results of the program in Camagüey are stable, reported Mailene Formentín Zayas, specialist in Comprehensive General Medicine in charge of the General Subdirectorate of Medical Assistance, in the Municipal Directorate of Public Health.

He also declared that in the current calendar, PAMI’s priorities are aimed at solving deficiencies of the last year such as the increase in birth rates, work with preconception reproductive risk and avoiding pregnancy in adolescence.

Regarding birth rates, the Deputy Director of Medical Assistance pointed out that specific actions are carried out, such as the registration of women of childbearing age so that they receive the proper treatment and achieve a desired and healthy pregnancy.

For this increase in birth rates, which is being worked on in the territory, the Assisted Reproduction Consultation -which operates in the municipality of Camagüey- is one of the great achievements of the sector as it is a fundamental space for all couples wishing to conceive and present clinical difficulties can receive the appropriate care support.

The Assisted Reproduction Consultation is located at the Joaquín de Agüero polyclinic, where from Monday to Friday a multidisciplinary team provides services for the interested population.
