Camagüey, Cuba, March 27th.- With the objective of promoting a more effective and participatory unionism in the economic, political and social spheres, the session of the Provincial Committee of the Cuban Workers’ Union (CTC) was held in Camagüey.

Yamisleydis López Fernández, secretary of the CTC in the region, highlighted the current initiatives that mainly seek to rectify deviations and improve the training of union leaders at the grassroots level.

Efforts focus on supporting key state programs, promoting food production, strengthening ties with universities and optimizing the internal dynamics of the organization, she noted.

María de los Ángeles Mesa Pérez, general secretary of the Communications Union, expressed her concern about the high labor turnover, especially in the Young Computer and Electronics Club.

She highlighted the need to retain young graduated professionals to promote innovation within work teams, through motivation and the implementation of incentives.

In this context, López Fernández emphasized that to achieve these objectives, it is crucial to focus on strengthening operations at the grassroots level, as well as on personnel management and the promotion of political and ideological values.

Furthermore, she pointed out the importance of individually addressing vital economic issues such as agricultural production, the sugar campaign, import substitution and increasing exports.

She also insisted on the fight against crime, corruption and illegalities through greater control over state resources and the elimination of vulnerabilities that favor these social indisciplines.
