University of Camagüey maintains alliances with 28 countries

Camagüey, Cuba, March 25th.- In support of the substantive processes of the University of Camagüey Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz, more than 200 agreements between frameworks and specific agreements are maintained by that academic institution with 28 countries from several continents.

Yailé Caballero Mota, director of International Relations of the aforementioned house of higher studies from Camagüey, mentioned that among the nations with which they maintain collaborative relations are Angola, Belarus, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Russia, Uganda and Venezuela.

She stated that internationalization positively influences the development of university scientific lines, research projects and approved innovation programs.

In this sense, she pointed out that in the line of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) and the computerization program of society, the creation of the International Research Institute in Artificial Intelligence at the Hebei University of International Studies, in the People’s Republic China stands out among the results with the greatest impact, where in addition, a doctoral program, two master’s degrees, a double degree program and the publication of the Artificial Intelligence book in Chinese, Spanish and English are taught.

Together with Belgium, he added, the food sovereignty and nutritional education program is promoted, as well as the lines of agribusiness, ICT, biotechnology and economic development through VLIR programs and projects.

On the other hand, tourism advances from internationalization through solid relations with the Balearic Islands and the University of Cádiz, while the sustainable local development management program and the line of economic development are favored through international projects financed by the European Union, the French Development Agency and the International Fund for Agricultural Development.

Regarding the research projects, she detailed that in 2023 twelve were carried out, including Improvement of food production and social well-being in the province through recreational technologies, Installation in the central-eastern region of Cuba of a center of excellence for research and production of bioactive plant compounds, Butterfly House for the sustainable management of diurnal butterflies in the Julio Antonio Mella popular council and eco-friendly multidisciplinary approaches to control and manage the marabou in the region, as well as the Improvement of shrimp farming through transgenerational stimulation.
