Etecsa in Camagüey stands out in Safety and Health at work

Camagüey, Cuba, Dec 1st.- Favorable indicators of prevention, training and low work accidents made it possible for the Territorial Directorate of the Cuban Telecommunications Company (Etecsa, Spanish Acronym) in the province of Camagüey to host the closing ceremony of the National Safety Day and Health at Work.

Ángel San Martín Duponté, health and safety official of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, declared to the Cuban News Agency his admiration for the constant work that this demarcation has been carrying out for several years in compliance with protection measures.

The impact on the different entities in terms of dissemination, promotion and coordination of preventive tasks, makes it possible for the link between accidents and proactive action in Camagüey to be leading in the country, which is why this recognition is well deserved, added San Martín.

Gilberto Villalobos Vega, main occupational health and safety specialist in the province, reported on compliance with the constant updating programs for risks, dangers and preventive programs, where the Communication and Electronics Workers Union stood out.

As a sign of the commitment to organizational work and supported by an annual period without work accidents or occupational diseases among its more than 190 high-risk workers, the group of the Territorial Directorate of Etecsa, of this city, received the status of Outstanding Center in Safety and Health.

Luel García Lorenzo, director of the aforementioned Camagüey entity, said he felt grateful and committed to the award granted by the Cuban Workers’ Union and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.

This recognition reflects the effort of several years of seriousness in the work of managers, workers and entities of Etecsa in the training and monitoring of safety tasks that are so important for our staff due to the risk that several of their daily work practices entail, García said.

Leaders and workers outstanding in precautionary tasks were also recognized for their work in the last year, as well as the tower, linemen and cable brigades of the Camagüey Operational Unit, the Cable, Reconstruction and Downpipes of the Main Telecommunications Center and the Automotive Workshop.

As a culmination of the day, a modeling of the correct use of security and protection means for telecommunications workers was carried out and later a detailed presentation of the classification and care of each preventive utensil.
