Camagüey, Cuba, October 22th.- With a special presentation by the Desandann Vocal Group at Café La Comarca, the program of activities organized by the Enrique José Varona Provincial Book and Literature Center for the Day for Culture came to an end.

The download brought to the stage rhythms, songs, dances from Haiti and that are part of the ajiaco that makes up the national identity; as well as poetry readings and performances by local writers and artists.

Yoanis Soriano, director of the Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda Literary Promotion Center, explained that panels were organized on topics such as the challenges of culture today, the work of José María Heredia or dedicated to the 70th anniversary of La historia me absolverá supported by Camagüey historians.

“We have spaces to honor Humberto Solás, so that writers could read his work and interact with the public, so that the magic of the book would travel through the schools; also, to promote creative dialogue between artists of all manifestations as required by current times”, he said.

He added that the work of literary extension and promotion is usually a priority in the entity’s work to keep alive the legacy of great writers such as Nicolás Guillén, Emilio Ballagas and La Avellaneda.

During the Day for Cuban Culture, the Provincial Book Center thought of proposals for all age groups, with emphasis on the new generations as they are the great readers of tomorrow.
