Camagüey, Cuba, October 18th.- The Office of the Historian of the City of Camagüey today schedules activities for the 510th anniversary of the former town of Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe, one of the first founded in Cuba by the Spanish metropolis.
Among them, the Photographic Expo stands out, dedicated to the 206th anniversary of the granting of the title of City to a city that in 2008 UNESCO would declare its Historic Center as a World Heritage Site.
Regarding Photographic November, an event convened by the Photo Library of Cuba in collaboration with the National Council of Plastic Arts, which aims to make visible the work of lens professionals in the largest of the Antilles, the OHCC itself calls for a collective exhibition, after the prior holding of a competition.
According to the official website of the institution “the theme of inspiration will be the cultural heritage, which transcends the artistic, and is reflected in customs, traditions and distinctive features of the people of Camagüey”.
Both professionals and amateurs of photography may participate with a maximum of five works that will be chosen by a jury of the Organizing Committee. The deadline for admission of works ends next October 31st.
The Fidelio Ponce de León gallery, located in the heritage area, will host the exhibition, which adds to the proposals of the former Villa del Puerto del Príncipe for city tourism that traditionally whose lovers visit the town on this date.
