Extensive program in Camagüey for the 50 years of Popular Courts

Camagüey, Cuba, October 6th.- The workers of the Provincial Court of Camagüey are immersed in activities on the occasion of this year’s celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the founding in the country of these bodies, in charge of dispensing justice.

José Ángel Estrada Castañeda, president of the Popular Provincial Court (TPP, Spanish Acronym), in statements to Adelante, detailed the program approved in an ordinary session, by the Government Council, in matters of social work, professional improvement, legal culture with the population in the communities and the relationship with related higher education careers.

It includes, from a historical point of view, highlighting the figures of Ignacio Agramonte and Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, visiting Guáimaro, cradle of Cuban constitutionalism and the pasture of Jimaguayú, where El Mayor was mortally wounded on May 11th, 1873.

Estrada Castañeda said that tribute will be paid to workers of the system, with broad labor endorsement, not only judges, but laypeople as well, and those auxiliary personnel who have favored dispensing justice.

He also spoke about the Open Doors program in the institution for those sectors of society that raise legal culture, mainly for children and young people, and pointed out that “it is a strength to have the university and within it the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law, those that graduates give us, plus the celebration of scientific events.”

In some areas of the municipalities, actions involving sanctioned individuals controlled by the Investigating Judge who are in the phase of extinction of sentences, such as blood donations and voluntary work in their areas of residence, also increase.

Finally, he said that at the beginning of September the process began for the election of lay judges who will serve in the courts for a term of five years.
