Camagüey, Cuba, October 4th.- The song Vamo ‘a ver, by the authors Dawlyn Wiliam Aldana Boudet and Rubén Aldana Lorenzo, was the winner of the contest called by the Office of the Historian of the City of Camagüey (OHCC, Spanish Acronym) and the Provincial Center of Music and Entertainment to select the identifying theme of the campaign for the 510th anniversary of the town of Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe, current city of Camagüey.

According to information from the Department of Institutional Communication of the OHCC, published on its official Facebook profile, the jury was made up of professionals from the aforementioned cultural institutions and chaired by Norberto Puente, director of the Maravilla de Florida orchestra, as well as by José Rodríguez Barreras, head of the Historian’s Office.

These were in charge of selecting among the nine competing works the one that best captured the essence of Camagüey, in a creative way, with innovative musical techniques and on par with authentically Cuban sounds.

According to the opinion shared by the OHCC about the winning composition «it contains rich lyricism in its melody, as well as an excellent harmonic treatment of ingenious creativity, it also has an excellent formal structure, both in the text and in the treatment of the genre (Son), and the final sound result gives us a product that is as refined as it is popular.

After the necessary musical and production arrangements are completed, the song will be available for the enjoyment of the people of Camagüey», adds the official statement from the aforementioned source.

Likewise, it stands out that the musical piece will accompany the celebrations and actions contemplated in the communication strategy for the 510 years of the founding of the ancient town of Puerto Principe.

The contest, which was presented last July, constitutes a platform to promote the work of local artists and the identity values of the region.
