Camagüey, Cuba, Aug 31th.- With a determining role in the gradual process of banking, the commerce and gastronomy sector in Camagüey implements electronic payments in 140 of its establishments, almost 60 percent of the total to be computerized.
Ismel Barrios González, deputy director of the Commerce Business Group (GECI), highlighted that 114 units have the QR code and 22 have point-of-sale (POS) terminals from Financiera Cimex, S.A. (FINCIMEX, Spanish Acronym), mainly in the points of construction materials and in some ideal markets.
The challenge, he said, is to continue promoting the benefits provided by each of the payment gateways, and foster a culture of use through the different communication platforms.
Barrios González explained that for this, training actions are being carried out for managers and workers, who should be the first to promote the use of electronic media, and insisted on the need to deploy the Transfermóvil implementation.
The strategy also includes payment to suppliers through digital platforms, for which the 238 commercial establishments in the province have a magnetic card to access the products.
The manager said that at the end of June, transactions amounting to 45 million pesos had been executed through EnZona and Transfermóvil, and currently three units are ready to implement the Extra Cash modality.
