Camagüey, Cuba, Aug 23rd.- With an enrollment of more than 110,400 students, on September 4th, 693 schools in the province will open their doors to offer a school year that resumes its usual duration, until July, then of the effects of COVID-19.

In the analysis of the preparations for the next stage in Camagüey, the doctor in sciences Naima Ariatne Trujillo Barreto, Minister of Education, verified the importance that the different organizations involved in ensuring the school calendar attach to it.

Given the complex economic situation of the country in the territory, strategic alternatives are sought with pertinent adaptations from each sector, to achieve the expected learning results, explained the Minister.

Among the main setbacks faced by the educational system is the deficit in teaching coverage, with the levels of Basic Secondary, Pre-university and Polytechnic as the most affected, as well as the municipalities of Vertientes, Nuevitas and Camagüey.

Faced with this problem, it has been decided to hire university students from pedagogical training to support the learning processes, as part of the Educando por amor contingent.

Mercedes Escuredo Olazábal, provincial director of Education, ratified the commitment of the members of the union and the other entities involved in the restart of the course, in whose 46 weeks circumstances impose a greater sacrifice for the achievement of educational improvement.

Regarding the distribution of the study material base, the first teachings are prioritized and the supply of copies in school libraries is ensured, while the notebooks and pencils will be delivered to students and teachers in an adjusted manner for each grade during the first months.

The transportation of students and teachers is one of the main concerns, due to the shortage of tires and batteries, however, efforts are being made to guarantee the transfer with the 30 School Transportation buses.
