Camagüey Sugar Industry gets ready for the next sugar harvest

Camagüey, Cuba, Aug 101th.- The Carlos Manuel de Céspedes sugar industry, in the municipality of the same name, is preparing for the next harvest in the province of Camagüey, which will include, once again, the manufacturing operations in the above said entity.

Ibrahim Guzmán Gómez, administrator of the factory, stated that the repairs have begun, which include disassembly, cleaning, conservation and diagnosis, aspects that met with positive results as stipulated by Technical Standard 52.

The larger tasks are focused on the boiler house, on the centrifuge -causing the most time lost in the last contest-, on the crystallization from the pans, and the generation of steam.

Although in the current month of August this task coincides with the vacations of the group, this does not affect the progress planned for this stage.

In addition, the workers show motivation and feel the commitment to carry out good maintenance, in which quality prevails as a guarantee of a better harvest despite the resource limitations existing in the country, which are exacerbated by the intensified economic blockade of the United States government to Cuba.

Among the main objectives is to have the sugar mill ready on October 31st to start the molasses stage and on December 20th the sugar harvest with the aspiration of increasing the contribution to the economy and promoting wage improvements.

According to the source, a considerable part of the inputs is available to ensure the repair, while the gradual arrival of parts is expected to allow the agreed deadlines for the start-up to be specified on date.
