Camagüey, Cuba, Jul 11.- From different angles, members of the Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC Spanish Acronym) in the region, remembered Nicolás Guillén Batista on the occasion of the 121st anniversary of his birth, on July 10th, 1902.
The reporter for the newspaper Adelante, Yanetsy León González, addressed the journalistic characteristics present in the text El diario que a diario, a book in which Guillén demonstrates characteristics inherent to his work such as the treatment of issues of social interest and the use of jokes.
In the panel that also celebrated the 60 years of UPEC, a television chronicle and the radio documentary Vengo de andar y aquí me quedo, were presented materials that polemicize in areas of the life and work of the National Poet of Cuba.
The prominent journalist Adolfo Silva Silva approached the audience to the section that since March 26th, 1924 was part of El Camagüeyano newspaper for more than a year: Pisto Manchego, a space that served the local intellectual to publish notes of local interest along with advertising segments.
At the same time, he called to celebrate in March 2024 the centenary of the appearance of Pisto Manchego, with more than 400 chronicles that have the peculiarity that they seem to be written in these times, he commented.
On the day of the 121st anniversary of the birth of Nicolás Guillén, several chroniclers of the territory were awarded prizes and the media were informed about the Colloquium Los días de Guillén, organized by the Foundation of the same name and the Provincial Center of Books and Literature of Camagüey, together to other institutions such as the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba.
