Camagüey, Cuba, February 5th.- The VIII edition of the Master’s Degree in Tourism Management, coordinated by the Center for Multidisciplinary Tourism Studies (CEMTUR) of the University of Camagüey, opened its doors to specialists who will be trained in this important economic sector of the country.

During the official opening, Dr.C. Gerson Herrera Pupo, director of CEMTUR, explained what this postgraduate course consists of, its operation, particularities, as well as the duties and obligations of both the teaching staff and the masters.

Herrera Pupo presented the academic committee that will teach the three modules of the program and highlighted as one of the advantages of this edition the enrollment of 43 masters with representation from various entities of the province’s tourism system.

The group is made up of graduates in Tourism, economists, accountants, computer scientists, as well as specialists in Communication and Sociocultural Studies and other disciplines.

For her part, the delegate of the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR) in Camagüey, Ms.C. Yuneski Cantelli González, graduate of the sixth edition of the Master’s Degree in Tourism Management, welcomed them and explained the impact and benefits that this program has for the sector in the province.

“This process requires a lot of commitment, responsibility and love, so that you can contribute your knowledge to the union. We must innovate and seek, through science, for our work to address deficiencies. We trust in their capabilities and what they can contribute.”

In the exchange, the topics that are priorities for studies in this area in the territory and on which research should focus were addressed.
