Camagüey, Cuba, February 4th.- The phrase “Honor to whom honor is due” may seem hackneyed, but it is accurate when it comes to recognizing those people who contribute significantly to the sociocultural development of the Camagüey territory.

Under that premise, several personalities and institutions of science, sports and culture of Camagüey were awarded the 510 Distinction in a solemn ceremony held in the Nicolás Guillén Hall of the Plaza Mayor General Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz.

The event was headed by Yoandry Ruiz Villalón, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in the municipality of Camagüey, Dixamy Rodríguez Gómez, deputy to the National Assembly of People’s Power in its IX Legislature; Lázaro Ernesto Echevarría Rodríguez, mayor of the municipality of Camagüey, as well as other members of the PCC and the Government in the territory.

Among the winners is the journalist Milton Díaz Cánter, who expressed his deep roots in the princely city and his native neighborhood, the Lenin cast, the presenter of A todo Motor received the distinction with great pride and commitment on behalf of his family and friends.

Guettón National Dance Prize was also worthy of this distinction and stated that this is one more incentive to continue dedicating himself to ballet and artistic teaching with greater impetus.

Likewise, the internationalist doctor and second-degree family medicine specialist Lex Cervera Estrada classified this recognition as an encouragement to his work and dedication.

Teacher Reynaldo Echemendía Estrada expressed that this is an award for dedication and daily effort, and also symbolizes something that gives them greater impetus to continue contributing to the Camagüeyan culture and manage to transmit what is traditional and authentic to new generations.
