Camagüey, Cuba, January 30th.- With the optimism and creative will to continue maintaining the vitality of the railway in Cuba in the face of the current economic challenges facing the country, the Camagüey railway workers celebrated their day.

The provincial event was hosted by the Mario Aróstegui Recio Railway Workshops Base Business Unit (UEB), of Camagüey, the largest of its kind in the country and with significant results in the search for solutions for the recovery of locomotives and wagons, in for the sake of greater efficiency.

With the presence of political and government authorities and the Cuban Workers’ Union (CTC) in the territory, the Provincial Bureau of the Transport and Port Workers Union awarded the José María Pérez Distinction to men and women who, with tenacity and dedication, have maintained uninterrupted work in the sector for 20 and 25 years.

Likewise, in the context of the 85th anniversary of the CTC, the workers Ricardo González Benítez and Eliecer Luis Gouda were also honored, who for 50 years have dedicated their working lives to the transportation sector and given their best in the effort to fulfill their Work efficiently and with positive results.

During the day, the work of the different union sections of the sector was distinguished and recognition was presented to the UEB Talleres Ferroviarios for the results that made it worthy of the venue of the celebration.

Yamisleidys López Fernández, general secretary of the CTC in the province, read the call prior to the XXII Congress of the labor organization, an organic process that will be developed in the current calendar and will culminate with the final sessions in April of next year.
