Camagüey, Cuba, January 20th.- With the aim of remembering the imprint of the National Hero of Cuba José Martí and putting into practice the values of his work, members of the Martiano Youth Movement in Camagüey developed this Friday the Cuba in My Backpack project with students from the Bernabé Boza Sánchez Urban Pre-University Institute, in the provincial capital.

According to the Martianos del Camagüey Facebook page, the young people were initially asked what they would keep from the largest of the Antilles in their backpacks and this motivated interesting responses.

“Our young people keep the history, the achievements achieved, the attention to our elders, the love of family, friends, nature, cultural traditions, the end of year meal, the memories of a camping trip, the scoldings of a teacher to be more disciplined. There are many good things to store and a backpack is not enough”, the publication notes.

In that space, the play Abdala was performed, in which José Martí defines love for the Homeland, and the Apostle of Cuba’s independence was remembered as the thinker who was “made of fire, blood and sweat”, adds the source.

As a culmination, the Martiano Youth Club was officially established at the Bernabé Boza Sánchez high school.

This initiative is part of the day that takes place in the Camagüey territory for the 171st anniversary of the birth of José Martí and the 35 years of the constitution of the Martí Youth Movement, to be commemorated on January 28.
