Outstanding researchers and scientific centers of Camagüey are recognized

Camagüey, Cuba, January 13th.- The commitment of the Camagüey scientific sector to work to contribute to territorial development by responding to specific problems of society was ratified in this city when commemorating Cuban Science Day.

In the Protocol Hall Nicolás Guillén Batista Lisbeth Font Vila, territorial leader of the branch, highlighted the need to invest in science to overcome the obstacles that humanity faces today, especially when the nation suffers the intensification of the North American blockade.

The occasion was propitious to present the Provincial Awards of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment to 14 impact results in areas such as food production, human health, education and the efficient use of energy carriers.

Pablo Galindo Llanes, university professor and author of the work Procedure for industrial intensification and diversification with a focus on industrial development, expressed on behalf of the countrymen of epidemiologist Carlos J. Finlay his support for the call of the country’s highest leadership to enhance the management of the knowledge, focused on vital aspects for local and national future.

In the local celebration of Cuban Science Day, young researchers and outstanding entities in innovation were also stimulated, with impacts in diverse spheres of society, including the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of Camagüey, the Fishing Company, the Mypime Alfonso III Furniture Factory and the La Liliana estate.

For its part, the Provincial Secretariat of the National Union of Education, Science and Sports Workers awarded a group of researchers the Juan Tomás Roig Medal.
