In Camagüey intensive work for non-gender violence

Camagüey, Cuba, Dec 8th.- The Federation of Cuban Women (FMC, Spanish Acronym) in this municipality developed during the year different projects aimed at the fight for gender non-violence.

Among them was the Women’s Voices space, a program that responds to a national initiative through which for several months; members of the FMC secretariat and specialists approached work and student centers to give talks on the existing types of violence.

The work gave positive results by allowing several people suffering from physical and psychological damage to approach the organization to receive the necessary guidance and progressively overcome the negative contexts.

Furthermore, in other cases, women were identified who were unaware of everyday behaviors as violence both in the family and work environment, says Aylén Lewis López, Ideological of the Federation in the municipality of Camagüey.

The creation of the Gender Committees was also an important achievement of the FMC in the City of Tinajones during the current calendar, with the legal support and guidelines provided by the National Program for the Advancement of Women.

Cases of violence are attended to by specialists from the Women and Family Guidance House, which is located at the organization’s municipal headquarters, located on San Fernando Street, a space that offers total confidentiality and support until the end of the process. to every person who approaches the institution.
