Camagüey, Cuba, Dec 6th.- The Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz International Airport of Camagüey carries out an average of 20 operations weekly but expects an increase in flights starting in the second half of the current month.

Lisandra Díaz Vega, head of the Operations Unit in the aforementioned entity, informed the Cuban News Agency that two charter flights are expected to be incorporated on Mondays and Fridays to Miami, United States.

Currently, she commented, there are connections with Miami (United States), Cancun (Mexico), Port-au-Prince (Haiti) and Aruba, through the airlines American Airlines, World Atlantic, Global Crossing, Viva Aerobus, Sunrise Airways, Aruba Airlines and Sky High.

Regarding the latter, operations are carried out every Wednesday to send cargo to Aerovaradero S.A. from Miami to the province of Camagüey.

When referring to reservations, he highlighted that at the airport itself the Havanatur agency, representative of charter flight clients, sells tickets to Miami, while Take Off promotes sales for the airlines Sunrise Airways, Viva Aerobus and Aruba Airlines.

For next year, she added, it is planned to increase travel frequency with the Viva Aerobus that will facilitate the Houston-Cancún-Camagüey connection.

Regarding biosafety measures, she explained that the prohibition of entry of passengers’ relatives to the check-in room continues, and hand disinfection, temperature taking and filling out the health declaration are maintained.

For her part, María Teresa Veiras Abreu, Terminal Manager at the Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz International Airport, stated that they have cutting-edge technology such as X-ray equipment, trace, explosive and metal detectors, body scanners, as well as the preparation of customs personnel.

She emphasized the need for passengers to comply with resolution 23 of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health that prohibits the importation of electronic cigarettes, in addition to the separation of medicines, food and hygiene products from the rest of the miscellaneous items.
