Emilio García Sánchez: a peasant entrepreneur from Camagüey

Camagüey, Cuba, Nov 25th.- Emilio García Sánchez is a prominent farmer associated with the Renato Guitar Credit and Services Cooperative (CCS, Spanish Acronym), in the municipality, who strives every day to provide more food.

On his El Malecón farm, from 13, 42 ha of land acquired in usufruct by Decree Law No. 125, he achieves different productions interspersed within fruit trees, his main area.

His property is one of the 114 that make up the city’s green ring, where he develops several projects such as robusta coffee in the plain, acerola and avocado ladder, which he harvests all year round.

It also has a mini-industry where it produces a wide range of merchandise such as syrup of various flavors, vinegar, mojito, fruit wine and seasoned salt, among others.

Their productions are delivered directly to the State and a part of them are sold at fairs and in other places by decision of the Government leadership, such as in vulnerable communities.

This enterprising small farmer does not stop, as he now creates the conditions to venture into another important front such as freshwater fish farming and, in addition, increasing coconut planting.
