Camagüey, Cuba, October 30th.- With the same qualities that Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz demonstrated in his fruitful life, the Camagüey delegates to the XI Congress of the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC, Spanish Acronym) will attend the meeting in Havana with the aim of contributing to the transformation of the press in the country, always on socialist bases and the principles of the Revolution.

With this premise concluded the exchange among Federico Hernández Hernández, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and first secretary in the province; Governor Jorge Enrique Sutil Sarabia and other authorities, with the local representation at the event, headed by Yurislenia Pardo Ortega, president of the organization in this central-eastern region.

In detail, Hernández Hernández referred to the economic situation facing the country and addressed the priorities aimed at facing such a panorama, among which are food production, including industrial and sugarcane activity, to which is added the stability of the national electroenergy system and the favorable results in the different indicators.

He commented on the rescue of productive poles and areas, and the identification of new areas with these potentials with the purpose of achieving self-sufficiency of the municipalities, the tribute of certain lines to others, and true food sovereignty.

Together with the Governor, he explained the actions that are implemented to improve the cleanliness of the city, the cause of repeated dissatisfaction of the people, for which work is being done to recover means and equipment based on the reduction in expenses incurred by the Directorate of Community Services.

Other topics such as the high prices that prevail today in the market, the contracting of agricultural production and the role of new economic actors and their relationship with the state company occupied the agenda of the dialogue, with the interest also of contributing to the search for solutions, a responsibility that also falls to the press in the country.

In the last few days, the nine delegates and the four invited by Camagüey to the XI Congress of the UPEC, which will meet on November 2nd and 3rd, exchanged with colleagues from the media and representatives of society who are engaged in reversing the current situation to consolidate the revolutionary work, an endeavor that the Cuban press also pursues.
