Tribute to Fidel from the Camagüeyan culture

Camagüey, Cuba, Aug 15th.- Several cultural institutions in the province developed on August 13 an extensive program of activities on the occasion of the 97th anniversary of the birth of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.

In the capital of Camagüey, for example, the Casino Campestre park hosted the Concert Bands meeting, directed by maestro Fernando Medrano Vireya and which was resumed after five years of inactivity.

The event was attended by the Provincial Band, as well as groups from the municipalities of Florida, Guáimaro, Nuevitas and Santa Cruz del Sur. The latter, the oldest of its kind in the territory of Camagüey, received from Reina García Díaz, director of the Jorge Luis Betancourt Provincial Center for Music and Shows, a recognition for the 115 years dedicated to providing presentations steeped in history and tradition.

In the context of the XX Literary Crusade, which concluded this Sunday, members of the local branch of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) and the Union of Young Communists staged the usual planting of a tree in the Botanical Garden of the Ciudad de los Tinajones, as a symbolic expression of the continuity of the ideas and values ​​instilled by Fidel.

As the actor and presenter Javier del Toro announced on Facebook, the show included, in addition to him, a cast made up of the Duo Voces, the vocalists Tania González and Andy Daniel, extra dancers from the Areíto circus, and the soloist from the Contemporary Ballet from Camagüey Mariam Romero, who were directed by Lionel de la Rosa Aparicio.
