Camagüey, Cuba, Aug 15th.- After several days of exchanging art and reading with the public from Camagüey, the XX edition of the Literary Crusade came to an end with the delivery of the Bustos Domecq prize.
Roberto González Rodríguez won the award for the book Pájaros enjaulados, «for offering a book written from humility, with well-achieved characters who seek to explore/exploit human miseries from the center of a family in the countryside».
The jury made up of the writers Evelin Queipo, Maikel Sardaña and Ariel Fonseca highlighted the correct characterization of the characters, the presence of elements of traditional storytelling and the complementarity between the stories that make up the volume.
The man from Sancti Spiritus thanked the jury, via message, to the local branch of the Hermanos Saíz Association, organizer of the event “that bets and believes in young literature and that continues to open doors for writers who are starting out in this wonderful world of letters”.
David Martínez Balsa, author of Dormidos en el huracán, was also recognized “for offering a well-written work, with a novel and original structure, (…) the work integrates a set that could be read as a novel. In it we find an author who dominates the techniques; it shows narrative craft and judicious choice of characters, with a good characterization of them.
