Camagüey, Jul 15th.- The Government Council of Popular Power in Camagüey called in its most recent session for the implementation of strategies for the management of sustainable local tourism, a decisive sector to transform the bases of the economy of Camagüey.
This was stated by Federico Hernández Hernández, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and first secretary of the political organization in the province, who said that it is important to prepare in each municipality based on local potentialities, in a complex context for the country.
In this scenario, the support, organization and constant link between all organizations and institutions is essential, especially with the Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz University, where work is being done on strategic lines for the management of sustainable local tourism that encompass 11 programs, 21 projects and eight actions.
The doctor in sciences Gerson Herrera Pupo, director of the Center for Multidisciplinary Tourism Studies of the University of Camagüey, explained that the foregoing allows promoting the attractions of the Ciudad de los Tinajones, nature, and sun and beach destinations, among the pole located in Santa Lucía and the investments in the northern zone, specifically in Cayo Cruz, stand out.
For this reason, cultural initiatives and recreation are privileged, issues that currently do not respond to the demands of visitors and that demand a comprehensive look at the province.
In line, Governor Jorge Enrique Sutil Sarabia reflected that there are possibilities that are not taken advantage of in the municipalities, as he recalled the historical and patrimonial values, coupled with the collective conscience, for the recovery of infrastructures that at the moment are not included in the Government plans and that require maintenance and repair.
