Camagüey, Cuba, April 12th.- In an evening nuanced by different manifestations of art, the Esperanza Awards corresponding to the year 2023 were presented in this city, an activity organized by the Provincial Unit of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology.

At the Avellaneda Theater, in the historic center of Camagüey, the support lines for people living with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) recognized people and entities that stand out in the region in helping and solidarity with the community.

In the Mutual Aid category, intended to recognize those who, with an extraordinary attitude, contribute to improving the quality of life of patients, Dr. Yadira Betancourt Camargo deserved the encouragement.

In the Prevention section, journalist Diosmel Galano Oliver was exalted and in Solidarity, a section conferred by the community of people living with HIV, Dr. Yanet Clemente Morell.

This year, the Food Company of Camagüey deserved the Special Hope Award, while the Provincial subsidiary of the Cuba+ Network highlighted the actions of Rodolfo Cutiño Martínez and Gregorio Márquez Flores.

The joint work of health institutions, social entities, communities and families constitutes a key element to increase the quality of life of those who suffer from HIV, while increasing the perception of risk and thus avoiding new infections.
