Camagüey, Cuba, April 3th.- It is surprising that Jorge Enrique Jerez Belisario, a reporter from Camagüey, who was elected direct delegate to the XII Congress of the Union of Young Communists (UJC), in this city, is a permanent source of news.
I remember that note in several mass media in the country, which explained how the young man from Camagüey dismantled the journalistic discourse on the case of the Five, in the Nuevo Herald, during the defense of his diploma work as an option for the Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, at the University of Camagüey Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz.
Then, a month after that reporting work, the interview Jorgito’s Steps was published in the Juventud Rebelde newspaper, which unraveled the mysteries of this native of Camagüey, his worries, longings, challenges and misunderstandings experienced to become a father of a family, committed to the future of his country.
Super-grandfather of the UJC -as this restless father of the family is publicly named- was quite right when he stated: “One of my efforts is to enter, with all my strength, into the vast virtual universe, learn from its multiple tools to defend to Cuba and its social project of historical dismantling and media manipulation of its truth.
With that perspective as a priority, this Internet user with a powerful reach on social networks and who, due to his professional skills, assumes the responsibility of the Granma newspaper, recognized that the defense of the homeland in the broad digital ecosystem, «is a permanent challenge for youth in the country».
The reporter, now 36 years old, assured that there is still much to do in this virtual scenario: «The communist organization has the historic mission of leading this fight», he said.
Jerez Belisario reflected that this theme must become part of the ABCs of the UJC in Cuba: “All revolutionaries have the responsibility of articulating ourselves better in the digital scenario, in the face of the imperial winds that blow, because the leftist revolutions, their movements, are target of historical and ideological dismantling in the network of networks», he stressed, while sending a hug to his entire family, especially his children, Aliz Laura, one year old, and Alejandro López, eight years old.
This pure-blooded native of Camagüey pointed out: “The destiny of Cuba depends, to a large extent, on how we behave in that virtual world, which generates many fakes news about the Cuban reality”.
Jerez Belisario asserted that he will continue to stay connected and fight, «because fourth, fifth and sixth generation wars, cyberwars or hybrid wars seek to misinform the people, and Cuba will never allow it».
The young journalist thanked the teachers at the University of Camagüey for his reporting training, and his colleagues and companions from the weekly Adelante, where he was elected direct delegate to the communist conclave, for his professional performance and youth leadership, during more than a decade of work uninterrupted.
