Adelante newspaper celebrated in Camagüey on its 65th anniversary

Camagüey, Cuba, January 12th.- On January 12 , 1959, just a few days after the triumph of the Revolution, the newspaper Adelante was born, founded by members of the 26th of July Movement in Camagüey, initially as an evening newspaper and then as the official weekly newspaper of the Camagüey territory, the first created after the victory.

Today, the family of “adelantados” celebrated its 65th anniversary with the same challenge since its foundation: that the process of the Cuban Revolution had a press worthy of it to tell it.

In a commemorative ceremony, held in the Ignacio Agramonte park of the City of Tinajones, and chaired by Federico Hernández Hernández, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and first secretary in the province, the special postal cancellation and delivery of recognition to the group for their work in disseminating the events of Camagüey.

In that space, the party leader recognized the performance of the Adelante newspaper and “those word professionals who always seek to inform their people truthfully and accurately”.

In what was the first house of Adelante, the Camagüey Folkloric Ballet entertained the press organ on its birthday with a show full of costumbrismo, rumba and everything authentically Camagüey.
