Government of Camagüey adopts new prices in passenger transportation

Camagüey, Cuba, Aug 24th.- The Provincial Government Council of Camagüey’s People’s Power approved in ordinary work session new rates for passenger transportation, at the proposal of the Provincial Directorate of Finance and Prices.

The measure is aimed at private transport in trucks, vans, minibuses and cars in the provincial, inter-municipal and national service, which will be applied in the non-state sector and to leased buses.

In the Meridiano radio space, of Cadena Agramonte, Héctor Miranda Suárez, director of the State Traffic Unit in the municipality of Camagüey, reported on the rates from the provincial capital to the municipalities, and in the interprovincial case of motor vehicles to Las Tunas, Ciego de Ávila and Santa Lucía beach.

Julio Pilliner Martín, inspector from the Provincial Inspection Directorate, explained that, as part of monitoring the issue of abusive and speculative prices, more than a hundred fines and more than a thousand inspections have been applied so far this week, in order to gradually respond to popular sentiment.

Beyond the important approval of the new measure, the need to integrate other factors such as the National Revolutionary Police and the State Inspection to enforce the new transportation rates was highlighted.
