Camagüey, Cuba, Aug 9th.- From August 1st to 7th, the World Day for Breastfeeding took place in the Ciudad de los Tinajones, a time to advance awareness of this important activity in the life of newborns.

During these days the health promotion and education team (ProSalud, Spanish Acronym) of Camagüey, held educational talks about the importance of guaranteeing exclusive breastfeeding for infants up to six months of life.

Doctors, specialists, nurses, health technicians and all the medical personnel from the different hospitals, polyclinics and maternity homes offered their knowledge to patients and relatives in order to offer good advice to future mothers.

Breast milk is the ideal, complete and healthy food for newborns and children under two years of age or older, as it contains more than 300 nutrients and exact amounts of fats, sugars, water, proteins and vitamins necessary for growth and development, and also provides benefits for the baby, mother and families.
