Camagüey Military Region performs promotion act

Camagüey, Cuba, Jul 21st.- The defense of the Homeland and the sovereignty bequeathed by the Centennial Generation, sustained with courage for almost 65 years of Revolution, was ratified this Friday during the political act and promotion ceremony to the next higher rank of a group of officers and non-commissioned officers of the Camagüey Military Region.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, the positive results in the service and the personal, military and political qualities of those stimulated were highlighted, as well as the exemplary conduct, commitment and dedication to the people and the highest leadership of the country.

On behalf of those promoted, Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Justiz Herrera ratified the permanence of the teachings of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz in daily actions, and the unconditional commitment to the legacy of those young protagonists of the feat of July 26th.

When pronouncing the central words, Lieutenant Colonel Alexis Peña García, Chief of Operations of the Camagüey Military Region, expressed that the same desire for victory of that day in 1953 is maintained today to face adversities, and corroborated the firmness of the Revolutionary Armed Forces in the respective combat posts.

The political act and promotion ceremony was chaired by the first colonel Gilberto Pozo Frezno, head of the Camagüey Military Region; Walter Simón Noris, member of the Provincial Bureau of the Cuban Communist Party; Yennis León Mayedo, vice governor; the first colonel Landres Gutiérrez Torres, head of the Ministry of the Interior in the territory of Camagüey; Brigadier General Heriberto Burgos Ronquillo, head of the Defense Directorate in the province; and other chiefs and officers.
