Brussels, Sep 18.- The 12th edition of the Belgian political-cultural festival ManiFiesta began in the city of Ostend, where Cuba will present its fight against the US blockade in debates and conferences.

Deputy Yoerky Sanchez, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and the Council of State, heads the Cuban delegation to the forum, accompanied, among others, by the official of Cuba’s Central Committee Belkis Lay and the ambassador to Belgium, Yaira Jimenez.

According to the program released by the organizers, Sanchez will participate in debates on the global battle against the United States blockade against Cuba, the struggle of the peoples of the South to advance on their own path and the resurgence of leftist forces in Latin America.

For her part, Yaira Jimenez will be interviewed by president of the solidarity association Cubanismo.be Isabelle Vanbrabant, and will also intervene in meetings on the rights of women in Cuba and the actions of the peoples of the South in pursuit of their sovereignty.

ManiFiesta dedicates its 2022 edition to the search for world peace, the role of young people and the defense of workers and their purchasing power.

The fight against the extreme right and its fascist ideas, the denunciation of transnationals with their colonizing role, the condemnation of imperialism in its various forms and manifestations and the fight against climate change are also part of the agenda.

The forum is organized by Solidaire, the newspaper of the Belgian Labor Party (PTB), and the Medicine for the People network. (PL)
