Camagüey, Cuba, April 10th.- The member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the National Assembly of People’s Power and the Council of State, Esteban Lazo Hernández, convened at the Siboney central, in the municipality of Sibanicú, Camagüey, produce the maximum amount of sugar possible, for what that line means for the country’s economy.
In dialogue with the workers of the mill, one of the three active in the current harvest in the province, he called on them to contribute more, with effort and dedication, in order to increase the production of grain, vital in feeding the people.
Lázaro Álvarez Padilla, director of Coordination and Technical Supervision of the AzCuba Sugar Business Group in the territory, reported that so far eight thousand five hundred metric tons of crude oil have been produced between the three industries, which represents a considerable delay.
Lubricant and fuel limitations are the main cause, without ruling out organizational and control problems; however, there is availability of cane, means, equipment and the sense of belonging of the sugar farmers, commented Álvarez Padilla.
The manager expressed to the President of Parliament that the commitment of the people of Camagüey is to make as much sugar as possible, while weather conditions allow it, especially to cover the demand for the regulated family basket.
They accompanied Lazo Hernández, the member of the Central Committee of the Party and its first secretary in the province, Federico Hernández Hernández; Homero Acosta Álvarez, secretary of the National Assembly of People’s Power and the Council of State; and Governor Jorge Enrique Sutil Sarabia.
