Camagüey, Cuba, January 10th.- The Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) in this municipality developed several projects aimed at combating gender violence during 2023, many of which will continue in this calendar.

One of them was Women’s Voices, a program that responds to a national initiative through which for several months the members of the organization’s secretariat, and specialists from various fields, approached work and student centers to give educational talks on the types of violence that exist.

With positive results, this work allowed several people suffering from physical and psychological damage to approach the FMC to receive the necessary guidance to overcome negative contexts.

Furthermore, in other cases, women were identified who were unaware of everyday behaviors as violence, both in the family and work environment, says Aylén Lewis López, a member of the Federation in the municipality of Camagüey who serves the Ideological Sphere.

The creation of the Gender Committees was also an important achievement of the Federation of Cuban Women in the City of Tinajones during the last period, with the legal support and guidelines provided by the National Program for the Advancement of Women.

These cases of violence are attended to by specialists from the Women and Family Guidance House, which is located in the municipal headquarters of the FMC, located on San Fernando Street in the princely city, a space that offers total confidentiality and support until the end of the process to everyone who approaches the institution.
