National Rebellion Day is commemorated in Camagüey

Camagüey, Cuba, Jul 25th.- A recognition to the people of the Camagüey capital for the results of the last year, valid to receive the status of Provincial Outstanding, transmitted the Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.

Alexey González Peláez, a member of the bureau in the city, ratified that the spirit of the men and women who in 1953 assaulted the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, headed by the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz; the same feeling of sovereignty, of Homeland or Death.

The leader highlighted the progress on several fronts and called for redoubling efforts to achieve the necessary transformations that the population needs in areas such as agri-food production, quality of services, price reductions and the rehabilitation of the housing fund, among others.

From the Joaquín de Agüero District, the most outstanding of the demarcation, the work of entities such as the Municipal Commerce Company, the UEB Granja Urbana, the territorial directorates of Sports and Culture, the Telecommunications Center and the CoLab Local Development Project were praised.

In addition, several people from Camagüey were given the membership card of the Party and the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba granted the status of the 70th Anniversary Collective «Con todos la victoria» to the Urban Farm and the Joaquín de Agüero District, for excelling in aspects such as production, services, contributions to society and the defense of the Homeland.

This July 26th will mark the 70th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, an event considered the triggering engine of the final phase in the struggles for Cuban independence.
