Teams from Cuba, The United States, Mexico, India, Poland, Ecuador, Ireland, Spain and Portugal, among other countries, participated in this prestigious event on Evolutionary Computing and Genetics.
University of Camagüey obtains first place in evolutionary computation

Camagüey, Cuba, Jul 18th.- The Doctor of Science Julio Madera Quintana, first vice-rector of the University of Camagüey Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz, and the Doctor of Science Yoan Martínez López, professor of the Faculty of Informatics and Exact Sciences, were part of the team from CICESE-UT3+UC México-Cuba that obtained the first global place in the Conference on Evolutionary Computing and Genetics (Gecco).

In this optimization competition for energy domain and operation and planning applications, developed online with headquarters in Lisbon, Portugal, the CISESE-UT3+UC Cuba-Mexico team also won the gold medal in Track 1.

The 2023 edition of Gecco brought, also for the team in which the teachers from Camagüey compete, the conquest of the third seat in Track 2 that they achieved in a selection that, in addition to Mexico and Cuba, had representatives from China and the United States.

Other selections from countries such as India, Poland, Ecuador, Ireland, Spain and Portugal participated in this prestigious Evolutionary Computing and Genetics event, along with those mentioned above.
