Camagüey dresses up for these two unique evenings, where Cuban ballet will once again demonstrate why it is recognized as one of the most outstanding in the world

Camagüey, March 20th.- The city is preparing today to welcome the Cuban National Ballet (BNC) with open arms, which will offer two unique performances on March 22 and 23 at the emblematic Teatro Principal.
The announcement, made by the Provincial Council of Performing Arts of Camagüey, has generated great expectations among dance lovers, who eagerly await the performances of one of the most prestigious companies in the world, which will also be at the Avellaneda Theater.
The highlight of these cultural events will be the participation of the BNC’s prima ballerina and director, Viengsay Valdés, whose talent and elegance on stage have captivated audiences around the world. Valdés will not only delight the audience with her art, but will also be honored at a special Gala on March 22nd, celebrating her 30-year artistic career.
The program on March 23rd promises to be equally spectacular, featuring performances of works such as Después del del diluvio, Ballet 101, Muto, the Grand pas de Paquita, and excerpts from the classics Giselle and Swan Lake. Each piece has been carefully selected to offer an unforgettable experience for viewers.
The BNC’s visit to Camagüey revives memories of historic moments for dance in the region. In November 2010, legendary dancer Carlos Acosta captivated the audience at the Teatro Principal with a masterful performance accompanied by the music of Rachmaninov. On that occasion, Viengsay Valdés was unable to attend due to international commitments, but her connection to Camagüey remains strong and meaningful.
Furthermore, it’s impossible to talk about ballet in this city without remembering Fernando Alonso (1914-2013), a fundamental figure in the history of Cuban dance. Alonso directed the Camagüey Ballet for almost two decades, from 1975 to 1992, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire new generations of dancers and choreographers.
The Principal and Avellaneda theaters, witnesses to countless cultural events, are preparing to once again welcome the BNC, in what promises to be a magical encounter between art, tradition, and a passion for dance.
Camagüey is dressed up for these two unique nights, where Cuban ballet will once again demonstrate why it is recognized as one of the most distinguished in the world.
