Camagüey, Cuba, Feb 19th.- The control of resources and the improvement of retail trade, as well as basic services for the population, were the focus of the exchange of directors and workers of the Business Group of Commerce (GECI), of Camagüey, during the organization’s Balance Assembly in the province.

The transformation of the sector, the sense of belonging, the information discipline and the implementation of science and technology were urged in order to achieve the satisfaction of the people with offers of goods and services in the entities.

The contribution to the fulfillment of the commercial circulation constitutes one of the main issues because of the 16 companies belonging to the group, only the Santa Lucía Tourism and Recreation companies and the Property Management company present positive indicators.

The director of GECI in the province, Robert Larrinaga Quiñones, insisted on issues of interest such as self-management and the fight against corruption, crime and illegalities, as well as the involvement and preparation of new generations in the tasks of the union in order to guarantee continuity.

Ernesto de Armas Díaz, director of the Municipal Commerce Company in Vertientes, said that 2024 did not show the expected results due to the lack of stable suppliers and agreements with new economic actors, however, lines of work are outlined to reverse the problems.

The use of physical production in each territory, accounts payable and receivable as well as banking were the focus of the exchange, where directors of entities of the Ministry of Domestic Trade that provide articles and products to the sector participated.

In his speech, the director of the Municipal Commerce Company in the City of Tinajones, Dagoberto Olivera Socarrás, referred to the difficult economic situation in which the country finds itself and the need to seek solutions in each group with good experiences in the units.

By the end of 2024, the sector has 40 approved cafeterias and a program of attention to children and young people that requires attractive initiatives to achieve the satisfaction of the people.

At the meeting, the collaboration agreement was signed between the Directorate of Information and Social Communication of the province and the GECI with the aim of promoting the development of scientific research activities and the preparation of workers.
