Camagüey, Cuba, Jan 9th.- Camagüey, one of the provinces highlighted at the national level for Cuban Science Day, will participate with 18 high-impact works at the National Innovation Fair to be held from January 15 to 17.

Among the most notable proposals, Niurvis Osorio Suárez, deputy delegate for Science, Technology and Innovation in the province, highlighted the Improvement of the potential for cow’s milk production through the introduction of a health management program in dairy herds in Camagüey.

In this regard, he explained that precision livestock farming improves the work by detecting 85 percent of heats in 42 cows over ten months, which has led to a birth rate of 54.76 percent, while allowing for optimizing milk production, increasing the efficiency and sustainability of the herd.

Another innovation, he pointed out, is related to the Design of new flexible containers with polyethylene, an ecological process that, based on the circular economy approach, foresees the reuse of surpluses, while reducing water consumption, waste, weight, storage, transportation costs and energy.

On the other hand, he highlighted Innovation in Faro Camagüey. Challenges and development perspectives, which provides six business lines with the inclusion of eleven new products and two services that impact the process of curing diseases and offer substitutes for deficient and low-coverage medications.

Likewise, a metal mold system for the manufacture of houses stands out, which has made it possible, he said, to reduce the cost of imported products by more than 50 percent, in addition to raising the quality of construction.

Osorio Suárez also referred to the Photovoltaic Generation Forecast Model, since, he said, it makes it easier to calculate the demand forecast for the following day based on meteorological variables, radiance and temperature.

On the other hand, he mentioned the Design and manufacture of a cassava flour line for drying cassava and replacing wheat flour, with an economic impact of three million 607 thousand 860.85 pesos.

On January 7, the province deserved the status of Outstanding, for the implementation of science, technology and innovation policies, a recognition that it also shares with Pinar del Río, Sancti Spíritus, Holguín and Havana, the latter being the venue for the celebration of Cuban Science Day.
