In full compliance with due process and procedural guarantees, as established by the Constitution of the Republic and the Law of Criminal Procedure, an exemplary trial related to drugs and substances with similar effects took place in Camagüey
Camagüey, Cuba, Dec 6th.- The Chamber of Crimes against State Security, in function of criminal matters, of the Provincial Popular Court of Camagüey, held the oral and public trial of case 99 of 2024, for an event related to illicit drugs or substances with similar effects.
Held in an exemplary manner, as part of the Day of Confrontation against crime, illegalities and indiscipline, the judicial act was attended by re-education officers from penitentiary establishments, representatives of social, student and mass organizations and the Provincial Prevention Group.
The accused, who was serving a six-year prison sentence, was found to have 27 packages containing synthetic cannabinoids, known as “chemicals” and two cigarettes made with the same substance upon his return from a prison pass.
It is estimated that this amount of drugs can be used to make 54 doses, with a sale price of 350 pesos each on the black market.
In a public ruling, the Court imposed a joint sentence of 19 years of imprisonment for the crime related to illicit drugs or substances with similar effects.
The deprivation of public rights, the confiscation of the seized drugs, and the prohibition of leaving the national territory were the accessory sanctions imposed.
