Camagua Folk Dance International Festival returns to the City of Tinajones

Camagüey, Cuba, Dec 6th.- From December 11 to 15, the city of the princely province will once again be the epicenter of dance in the country by hosting the V International Camagua Folk Dance Festival, which for the first time will be held only in person.

Groups from various Cuban provinces and from different nations of the world will come to the City of Tinajones invited by the Camagua Folklore Company and the political, administrative and cultural authorities of the region.

Fernando Medrano Vireya, director of the host group and president of the organizing committee of the festival, commented that there will be competition between dance couples from the country and from abroad, in addition to duos from artistic teaching.

Regarding the theoretical section, she specified that the themes will be around the multiple identities that come together in traditional dances and there will be master classes on Arará dances and Cuban dances of Bantu origin.

Among the guest artists in this edition of the Camagua Folk Dance are the performers María Victoria Rodríguez and Osdalgia, and the multi-award-winning Septeto Santiaguero, who will share stages in theaters, squares and communities with local groups such as the Maravilla de Florida orchestra and the Rumbatá group.
