Camagüey, Cuba, Nov 15th.- The presentation of the innovative idea Don’t throw it away, share it in Circular, which is already becoming a project to contribute to promoting the development of the circular economy in the territorial area, stands out among the results of a meeting or ideaton on the subject held in Camagüey.

This action of the co-Lab Local Development Project constitutes the initial activity of the organization on the occasion of the Cuban Science Day at the Union of Computer Scientists of Cuba (UIC).

Reynaldo Alonso Reyes, co-Lab leader, and Miguel Angel Torres Pérez, project portfolio manager, were in charge of presenting the aforementioned idea, which incorporates the use of emerging paradigms, has an inclusive character and, from a territorial development governance, allows, among other elements, decision-making, traceability, statistics and the management of indicators.

In addition, the initiative prioritizes the approach centered on the citizen and the development actors in the community, promotes circularity from the identification of the business metabolism and the citizen culture around the subject and the innovative culture of the business system.

The ideaton is a collaborative event where a group of people meet to propose and develop innovative ideas in a limited time, focused on solving a specific problem or exploring new opportunities within a certain field.

With around twenty participants from different sectors and multiple interested parties, this event was attended by experts and specialists from the Territorial Delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (CITMA), the Environmental Engineering Center of Camagüey, and the University of Camagüey Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz.

Likewise, there were representatives from the Territorial Development and Information Technology and Communications departments of the Provincial Government.

The ideathon was attended by members of the UIC Board of Directors and its Technical Advisory Council, headed by the CITMA Provincial delegate Lisbet Font Vila, and Enoedis Sanchez, the Vice Mayor of the Administration Council of the municipality of Camagüey.

During the event, the main challenges faced by the innovative idea and the initial elements were identified, in order to build a roadmap for the co-creation of prototypes, their subsequent development and scaling.

Based on the proposal, a new public innovation project is being launched in the territory from co-Lab as a driving force for innovation.

These types of meetings are common in business, academic and citizen laboratory environments, and can be a good way to promote creativity, collaboration and innovation.

The circular economy is based on principles of reuse, recycling and the regeneration of materials, and has among its fundamental purposes improving the quality of life of the inhabitants of each city or community, and strengthening the local economy.
