Camagüey, Cuba, Nov 12th.- The Book and Literature Festival (FULL) 2024 began at the Dr. Carlos J. Finlay University of Medical Sciences, dedicated on this occasion to Onelio Jorge Cardoso, the greatest storyteller, and to the 57th anniversary of the creation of the Cuban Book Institute.

At the meeting with the students of the educational institution, the young author Evelyn Queipo Balbuena presented her book Práctica salvaje, winner of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba Award in Santiago de Cuba, where she moves away from traditional poetry by using poetic prose, very close to the mini-story.

She recreates at will joy, love, eroticism, friendship and treatment between people, in her own voice and through a style that seeks a new poetry, closer to reality.

Queipo Balbuena -author of some 15 titles- received the José María Heredia Prize with this publication, it is a collection of poems based on the behavior of animals to illuminate the emotional imbalance of human beings, which describe a civilization loaded with violence and other feelings.

In the chapter Domestication, Evelyn tames a poem with her ethics that makes her overcome the attack of enemies, a text available in the network of bookstores in the province so that new generations learn to enjoy poetry that is not very common.

The University Festival of Books and Reading will continue until the 15th with presentations of different volumes, poetic and artistic exchanges and the conference of the outstanding writer Francisco López Sacha on the short stories of Onelio Jorge Cardoso.
