Camagüey, Nov 10th.- The highest political and Government authorities in Camagüey visited the pumping station belonging to the Caonao reservoir, where a construction process is being carried out with the purpose of improving the water supply to the population and the economy of the municipalities of Florida and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes.
The biggest problems are the state of the valves, for which there is a commitment from the hydraulic sector and the Argentine Sugar Agroindustrial Company to look for alternatives for their repair or replacement.
The investment program also includes the replacement of two kilometers of pipeline, where actions are already being carried out for the subsequent placement of the pipes.
The Caonao reservoir supplies the population and the economy of the municipalities of Florida and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes in the province of Agramonte, with a storage capacity of 27 million cubic meters of water, and is currently one hundred percent full.
In the municipality of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, the provincial authorities evaluated the repair and maintenance work on the machinery in areas of the mill, which is getting ready for the upcoming sugar harvest, work that shows delays due to the effects on electricity and fuel limitations.
In this sense, a significant number of actions are aimed at improving the water supply to the mill, a key resource in the process, while insisting on the need to prepare and train the workforce for performance in all areas.
On December 20, the sugar contest begins in the province of Agramonte and the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes mill team is committed to producing a little more than 23 thousand tons of sugar.
