Camagüey, Cuba, Nov 9th.- With the presentation of the novel The Tape Measure (Ediciones Unión, 2015), by Efraín Rodríguez Santana, the local public was able to learn more about the work of the poet and playwright Ángel Escobar.
On this occasion, the Camagüeyan writers Alejandro González Bermúdez and Yoandra Santana Perdomo were in charge of revealing the mysteries contained in a work that does justice to one of the creators of the literary vanguard of the island of his time.
«It is like the very avant-garde of writing -said Santana Perdomo-, but in it one can appreciate a much finer obsession to weave a raw and beautiful poetry. This is a novel that speaks of the world of Ángel Escobar, who becomes the main narrator but which results in a great interior monologue of a person who is not completely sane».
In addition, he pointed out aspects of his work, in which he spoke of fear, of the chase, of the jump, the fall, the separation of the body and the mind; and he defined him as a profound author, of core intelligence who wove his poetry in a successful way.
Regarding The Metric Tape, he noted that Efraín Rodríguez shows moments of clear lucidity from his protagonist, but also those other voices appear that speak to become a reflection of the sociocultural and political context of the time.
González Bermúdez invited us to delve into the work of Ángel Escobar, winner of the David Prize in 1978 with the text Palabras al uso, and in particular to enjoy the proposal of Efraín Rodríguez Santana.
