Camagüey, Cuba, Sep 15th.- The most recent edition of the event held by the National Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired (ANCI) on the second Sunday of every month in the City of Tinajones was dedicated to commemorating International Journalist Day and the 64th anniversary of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR).

Agramonte Loynaz Birthplace Museum, the Cañizares/Hinojosa family was remembered, founders of the CDR in the 60s of the last century XX and the debut of Eneida Sosa, the singer and poet who was heard on the radio program Mural campesino, on Radio Cadena Agramonte.

Amidst songs, poems and jokes, the competition was held to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the club, in which ANCI members and anyone who submits a brief review of Camagüeyan women from all eras may participate.

The works will be delivered by November 30 of this year at the Association’s headquarters, located on Calle Popular, or at the Casa de El Mayor itself, near Plaza de los Trabajadores.

At the meeting, it was announced that the Ninth Congress of the ANCI will be held from November 26 to 28 in the country’s capital, where the province will be represented by 15 outstanding women and men in the social work of the institution, created on July 20, 1975.

The motto of the conclave is Include me, I am not different and represents more than 30 thousand associates throughout the island.

Its members carry out training activities, Braille reading, incorporation into socially useful work, sports and cultural activities -in addition to community outreach- to demonstrate that being blind is not a moral disability.
