In 53 graduations and 57 years, the first university created by the Revolution has contributed more than 84 thousand graduates, well-trained professionals who have made a valuable contribution to the development of the country
Camagüey, Cuba, Sep 12th.- More than 1,800 new graduates from 50 university courses, including for the first time, seven short-cycle courses, received the degree that accredits them as graduates, engineers or senior technicians after successfully completing their studies at the first university created by the Revolution.
Agramonte Loynaz university extends to eight provinces of Cuba, where from now on, new faces will begin to apply their scientific knowledge and thus contribute to territorial and national development.
Santiago Lajes Choy, rector of the University of Camagüey, highlighted that the young people who graduated this Thursday were those who began their studies in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, which meant a double effort for teachers and students due to the impossibility of in-person classes, those who have suffered in the classrooms from the intensification of the blockade and the complex energy situation that the country is going through.
«Nothing could stop our university from continuing its processes. When many thought, especially the enemies of the Revolution, that it was impossible to continue, today we proudly tell our people that we have fulfilled our promise, here are your children who graduated», said Lajes Choy, also meant that 287 professionals graduated from Municipal University Centers that bring the educational dream to each of the territories.
One of the graduates with the Scientific Merit Award and the Gold Degree of this graduation was the graduate in Psychology Yanier Rodríguez Domínguez, who thanked his professors and colleagues for their support and training as competent professionals. «When I see my degree, after these difficult years, I am infinitely grateful to the Revolution and I think of three figures in our history who have greatly influenced my life: Félix Varela, José Martí and Fidel Castro».
