Camagüey, Cuba, Sep 10th.- The province of Camagüey took a significant step in protecting children’s health by starting immunization with the new 10- valent pneumococcal vaccine Pneumosil-10 on Monday, September 9.

The innovative immunogen is designed to offer robust defense to infants, protecting them against 10 of the most prevalent serotypes that cause invasive pneumococcal disease.

Among the most serious conditions that can be prevented are acute meningitis, pneumonia and sepsis, conditions that pose a considerable risk to the health of children.

Cuban Minister of Public Health José Ángel Portal Miranda highlighted through social media X that the acquisition of the 10- valent Pneumosil was possible thanks to the collaboration of the Global Vaccine Alliance and the Pan American Health Organization.

This joint effort underlines the country’s commitment to improving public health and ensuring the well-being of children, marking an important step forward in the fight against preventable diseases.

The implementation of this vaccine not only represents a step forward in healthcare, but also a step towards a healthier future for new generations.
