Camagüey Railway Museum continues to promote local heritage

Camagüey, Cuba, Sep 8th.- With the start of the 2024-2025 school year, institutions such as the Camagüey Railway Museum are resuming their activities aimed at student groups.

The most recent one was attended by students from the Armando Mestre Polytechnic Institute, a center responsible for training mid-level technicians in construction specialties.

Students and teachers toured the museum’s facilities, in addition to learning about the approval for the creation of the Camagüey Electric Company by the then president Tomás Estrada Palma in September 1906, the central theme of the meeting.

In this regard, the specialists explained that this company was in charge of making the investments in the trams in the princely city, which are also part of the history of the railway in the territory.

Every year, the Museum carries out a significant number of activities focused on promoting the rich railway tradition that was forged in Port-au-Prince by the visionary Gaspar Betancourt Cisneros, “El Lugareño”.

After a summer full of innovative proposals that brought together a large number of visitors, the Camagüey Railway Museum resumes its regular programming, which keeps it as one of the most attractive cultural destinations in the City of Tinajones.
