Camagüey, Cuba, Sep 6th.- On September 5, to celebrate World Tourism Journalism Day, a meeting was held between area managers in the province, members of the Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC) and professors from the University of Camagüey Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz.
In this space the delegate of the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur) in Camagüey, Yunesky Cantelli González reported on the main advances in the sector this year, as well as the proposals implemented during the summer.
Of these, the attention to more than 89 thousand national tourists stood out with offers that included the Las Clavellinas, Punta de Ganado and Los Cangilones camping bases, in addition to those developed by Palmares, Cubanacán and Islazul.
With the arrival of the so-called high season, the Mintur delegate said that an offer of tourist packages is expected for which investment and maintenance actions are being carried out.
An increase in the number of tourists arriving through Camagüey airport is also expected, and work is being done on new products related to rural, urban and event tourism, among others.
During the exchange held in the conference room of the Gran Hotel, Ramón Hernández, head of the Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism at the Agramonte University, pointed out that the faculty has specialists in the sector who contribute to the training of more than 800 graduates of the three fundamental modalities of the regular daytime course.
The subject of the training of professionals who manage hotel facilities was also addressed, as well as the collaboration in research that is being developed with various institutions within and outside the country, in order to improve this vital sector for the country’s economy.
Formatur Training Center and the Cubanacán hotel chain also presented results and work projections.
