Camagüey, Aug 7th.- The Assisted Reproduction Program in Camagüey achieved, at the end of July of this year, 81 pregnancies and 35 births, thanks to the efforts of public health professionals in the territory.
Dr. Isabel Peláez Noguera, head of the program in the province, explained that the basic cell is the family doctor’s and nurse’s offices, where people with assisted reproduction needs are identified and the first steps are taken to start the process. treatment.
It is important to highlight that, of the total number of pregnancies, 47 were achieved in municipal consultations, after the treatment of certain pathologies that the couples presented, and 34 in provincial consultations, the latter using the artificial insemination technique.
Peláez Noguera explained that, due to its particularities, the Cuban health system allows for promotion and prevention work on infertility from its early stages.
The doctor also highlighted the importance of supporting couples, through psychologists and social workers, who are part of the multidisciplinary team involved in the program.
This is because, upon arriving for consultations, many patients present high levels of stress and emotional situations due to the desire to start a family, which sometimes triggers the inability to conceive.
